History of Camberwell Green

2021 On 12 July Council resolves not to support the re-reservation of Crown Allotment 113C for education purposes, essentially blocking the proposal for a park shared between the community and the local primary school.

Instead, Council resolves to request that if the re-reservation proceeds, the land be reserved for public park., however, without dissolving previous Council resolutions of 2019 this would create a stalemate position with Council unable and unwilling to support maintenance of public open space.

Council further resolves not to support any agreement which seeks to rely in full or in part on Council funds to build or maintain the proposed school open space/playground. Council reiterates opposition to the partial closure of Reserve Road.

Ongoing Camberwell Green is continuing to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to see green space created on the Reserve Road carpark.

Camberwell Green remains committed to the vision of closing the midsection of Reserve Road to create a flowing green park that extends from the junction to the civic centre.

Camberwell Green acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people as the Traditional Owners and true sovereigns of the land now known as Boroondara. We acknowledge their creator spirit Bunjil, their Ancestors and their Elders.

We acknowledge the strength and resilience of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung, who survived European invasion and never ceded sovereignty. We also acknowledge the significant contribution made by the many other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to life in Boroondara.
